Kibabii University on Tuesday 14th June, 2022 launched a Multimillion Information Communication and Technology Hub worth KES 64.6M.

Kibabii University Commission’s a Data Centre and Video Conferencing Facility

In an event graced by Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, Vice Chancellor Kibabii University KIBU commissioned a Data Centre and Video Conference facility that were funded by National Research Fund (NRF). This was through a competitive grant proposal on ICT infrastructure led by the Principal Investigator Prof.  Franklin Wabwoba. Others members of the team were Prof.  Mbuguah, Dr. Mayeku, Dr. Barasa, Dr.Etene , Dr. Owoche, Ms. Shisoka, Mr. Kilwake and Mr. Khaoya.

The Vendor who bid and won the contract to supply, install and commission the projects was Innovative technologies. He worked closely with Kibabii University NRF Project Implementation Committee whose Chair was Prof. S.Mbuguah and members were: Dr. S.  Barasa, Dr. Y.Etene , Dr P. Owoche. Ms.  A. Shisoka, CPA B. Oduori,   Mr. Khaoya, Ms J. Wanyonyi and Ms Walusatchi.

The state of the art Data Centre will host all the University servers for all systems.  It will also allow the University to hold data for other organization in the Western part of Kenya.

The Video Conference facility will enhance the ability of the University to hold conferences remotely. It will also enrich the University e-learning resources during this time of Covid- 19 and beyond.
